Comments: "The Hollow Men" is a poem by T.S. Eliot, well known for its ending quote:
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang, but a whimper.
After playing around with a text to wav editor, I found that the voices it made sounded very computerized, no passion in the words it created, not human at all.
It reminded me a lot of this paticular line in The Hollow Men:
Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
So I ran the whole poem through the text to wav editor and then added correct spacing between each word in Cool Edit.
After that I decided it might sound even better if I put some music in the background, and chose I loving piece by John Cage intitled "In a Landscape." The whole piece was 8 minutes long, so I only used part of it, and faded out where I thought fitted.
