I've been reading a few books on working with Middle School kids at church.

Fascinating book comparing the Bible and archaeology.

First written in the 1950s and then updated in the 1980s, this book surveys many topics in the Bible and compares them to modern archaeological discoveries. From speculations on the flood to the manna of the Israelites, it covers a broad section of items which many people question about the Bible.

Sacred Languages

Sacred Languages by Paul Auvray et. al. gives an overview, and history of the the development of, the languages in the Christian Bible. Specifically, it covers Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin.

If you are merely curious about these languages without wanting to become a scholar in them, this book is a great starting point.
